Domenic represents businesses in many diverse sectors ranging from manufacturing and retail, to professional services and not-for-profits. He advises and guides clients through strategic planning, contract negotiation, dispute resolution, corporate governance, financing, and purchase and sale of businesses.
Entertainment Law
Domenic Romano also represents both established and up-and-coming entertainment professionals, such as producers, filmmakers, actors, on-air personalities, writers, artists and musicians. His foremost concern is the protection and advancement of a client’s interests and reputation. Domenic is proactive; he often makes strategic introductions to enhance clients’ opportunities. Entertainment clients include actor and filmmaker, Saul Rubinek; Olympic gold medalist, Mark Schultz; Roz Weston of Entertainment Tonight; music producer, Dave Pierce; animation and movie trailer voice-over artist, Rino Romano; singer-songwriter, Adam James Broughton; and syndicated talk show host, Joey Reynolds.
Qualifications
After earning two degrees at McGill University (M.A. and B.A.), Domenic obtained law degrees from Oxford University in England (Jurisprudence), Dalhousie University (LL.B.), and Columbia University (LL.M. - International Business Transactions).
Prior to starting his own firm, Domenic practiced at a prestigious international firm and at a large technology law firm. He has provided legal services to Fortune 500 companies and to high-tech start-up companies. He has been intimately involved in many domestic and international corporate transactions. Domenic also co-authored the article “Redefining Corporate Liability”, published in Corporate Counsel’s International Advisor.
Memberships, Associations and Background
Domenic Romano has been a member of the New York State Bar since 1993, and a member of the Ontario Bar since 1996, allowing him to serve an increasing international client base.
A member of the Business Law Section and the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, Domenic is also on the Corporation Law Committee and the Entertainment and Sports Law Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association. He lectures regularly on business law issues at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and the Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO). In addition, he serves on the board of directors of Street International, an international non-profit organization serving disadvantaged youth in underdeveloped nations.
Domenic is the founding member and organizer of the Independent Lawyers Group, a diverse network of exceptionally qualified and experienced attorneys engaged in a range of law practice areas, including Litigation, Intellectual Property, Employment, Tax, Real Estate, Immigration, Matrimonial, Criminal Law and Bankruptcy.
In addition to speaking fluent Italian and French, Domenic enjoys film, theater and following baseball. Domenic is also an avid runner, having completed eight marathons, including Chicago, San Francisco and Rome.
